Importance of Bowel Management

Somehow over the years bowel awareness has practically become extinct and the topic of pooping has become “Taboo” at all costs. The fact is we are all full of poop. It is the one thing we all have in common that needs to be taken more seriously.

To shed some light on this uncomfortable subject, let’s look at some important facts that your poop may be telling you. Believe it or not the size color, smell, texture and transit time are all important factors to take into consideration when evaluating one’s health issues or concerns.

You are what you eat is the truth! Your daily eating habits contribute to majority of your health problems.

First factor to take into consideration is how well your body processes, breaks down and utilizes the foods you’ve eaten.

Second factor to take seriously is how your cells utilizes and absorbs the nutrients it receives from your food.

Third factor and one of the most important is how well your body eliminates the left over toxic dead matter.

Other important factors to take into consideration that contribute to your state of health would be oxygenation (to our cells, tissues and organs) how well you breathe everyday all day, the stress in our lives (how well we manage it) and the quality of your sleep (which is vital to allow our body to recharge, rejuvenate and detoxify)

All these important factors need to be working effortlessly and in harmony in order to prevent you from the following ailments…

•Digestive problems (indigestion, acid reflux, ulcers, gas, bloating)

•Skin conditions (dry skin, acne, cysts, eczema, psoriasis, premature aging, cellulite, saggy skin, boils and abscesses)

•Mentally (lack of will power, negative attitude, no ambition, depression, anger, aggressivity, overly sensitive, lack of motivation, insecurity and low self esteem)

Constipation, migraines, headaches, chronic fatigue, lack of energy, stress, weight gain, obesity, uncontrollable cravings, addictions, insomnia, PMS, menstrual cycle, menopause, poor circulation, stiff joints, backaches, infections, body odour, bad breath, aches, pains, inflammations, tendonitis, arthritis, sciatic problems, infertility, sterile, lack of sex drive, morning sickness, water retention, anaemia, excessive weight gain, quality of a woman’s journey throughout her pregnancy, her delivery and recovery from giving birth.

For babies it affects them the minute they are conceived. The type of nutrition they receive from their mother’s diet, the quality of foods she ingests and how well her own elimination channels are working during the pregnancy. (also while nursing). Then once your baby is out in the real world the type of foods they eat, their environment and the quality of their lives are all contributing factors that help prevent them from sickness and disease.(such as colic, constipation, gas, eczema, colds, flu’s, infections, dry skin, obesity, poor sleeping patterns, ADD, ADHD to name a few)

We must begin to realize that the type of lifestyle and diet we live has a direct link to our overall health which in turn affects our entire digestive system and bowels. Your health can be evaluated by how many times a day you go, how long it takes for you to go the type, texture, size, color and smell all are indicators of what level of health you are at.

What is considered the norm today? Most doctors will tell you at least once a day or every other day is fine. For our babies, they tell you every other day, even once a week is ok. After that they want to prescribe some type of laxative to flush out the bowels but never address the cause.

As many times as you eat per day is the amount of times you should be eliminating. Sounds like a lot? Once food is ingested it shouldn’t be in your system no longer than 18 hrs on average otherwise food begins to rot, ferment, putrefy and create a lot of health related problems.

Let’s break it down so you can see how important eliminating a few times a day is crucial.

The average person eats 3 meals per day, with a snack here and there. Let’s just look at the 3 meals for now. 3 Meals a day should equal 3 poops a day.

If you eat 3 times a day go poop only once a day, you are 2 poops behind by the end of the day. Doesn’t sound that bad, to most people that is considered normal right??

Let’s look at one week. 3 meals a day 7 days a week = 21 poops a week.
You end up being 14 poops behind a week.

Let’s look at a month (4 weeks) 21 meals a week x 4 weeks = 84 poops per month
You end up being 56 poops behind per month approx.

After 1 year you’ve eating 1095 meals per year (that’s 3 meals only per day) pooped 365 poops a year (once a day)
You end up being 728 poops behind in a year.

What about those people that eat 5 small meals a day and poop only once?
After 1 year they ate 1825 meals a year, poop only 365 times out of the year and are an astounding 1460 poops behind in a year!!!

Wow, talk about being full of something.Where do you think all that poop goes in your body? Could it have a negative effect on the body and health? Let’s not forget your core body temperature is 98.6 degrees with approximately 88 percent humidity in the colon.(hot like a sauna) Things begin to rot, ferment, putrify and creates the perfect breathing ground for bacteria to manifest. These bacteria eventually take over the terrain creating major ailments over a period of time. The role of the bacteria is to try to clean up the garbage, the problem is bacteria are bugs, they eat what you eat and then pee and poop into your system creating a toxic by product that gets filtered back into the body and creates autointoxication. (for detailed information on autointoxication visit our cleansing section on our site)

What do you think happens to our body and state of health after 20, 30, 40 years of eating a diet made up of unhealthy cooked, processed foods? What about people that suffer from constipation problems for years? They are so backed up, toxic and feel rundown and lifeless. Their body becomes a cesspool for poisons and a breathing ground for bad bacteria to proliferate. Most constipated people try to alleviate some of the discomfort by using toxic, acidic drugs known as laxatives. Over 725 million dollars a year are spent just on laxatives. (That’s a lot of backed up poops)The problem is that the laxatives are only a band aide affect a temporary solution that in hopes the uncomfortable symptoms are alleviated, but the root and cause of the problem is never addressed. In no time you can go from 1 laxative a day to 5 pills a day. The body adapts quickly and the laxative can no longer alleviate the symptoms. As time goes on the once acute problem ends up becoming chronic showing up as signs of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Crohn’s disease, Colitis, etc..

In a nutshell

The food choices you make everyday affect your level of health in so many ways. Once food has been heated processed and denatured in any way our body sees it as a foreign substance, unrecognizable, unusable material to sustain life and uses up our energy reserves and minerals to lessen the impact it has on your body.

Foods to avoid

Acidic foods that contribute to illness and cause constipation would be any type of cooked food, meat, dairy, sugar, wheat, junk food, sodas, coffee, pasteurized juices, bread, pasta, muffins, cereals, eggs, all dairy by products (yogurt, cheese) Alcohol, smoking(robs oxygen from body, which slows system down) all fast foods and artificial sweeteners.

An excess of acidity in the body can damage our tissues, organs and cause our bones to release its minerals to neutralize the acids from the dead cooked acidic foods we ingest. Over a period of time we become deficient in minerals, our cells are polluted, the immune system weakens, the blood becomes toxic and thickens, the lymphatic system becomes sluggish and that’s how we end up feeling most of the time. Tired, sluggish, exhausted, congested, unhealthy, overweight etc…

Because digestion and most absorption of nutrients happen in our small and large intestines, it is fare to say that our quality of health stems from the digestive system right? So if your body is living in a cesspool of poisons, toxins, acidity, fermentation and putrefication from the foods you ingest, it’s easy now to understand why you should never be embarrassed, afraid or uncomfortable to go poop when you gotta go.

Plus, if you decide to change your eating habits and eat a vegan diet of raw live organic whole foods, nuts ,seeds and grains you are giving your body massive amount of minerals, alkalinity, water, and fibre so it will take you seconds to go poop rather than the average 10 minutes and it won’t even stink up anybody’s bathroom. Problem solved and you save your own life from years of aches, pains sickness and disease.

Other effective ways to alleviate constipation and improve one’s health is through adding exercise to your life (cardio, yoga, weight training), do a safe & effective detox program every year (inform yourself of types) you can also try colonic irrigations (be sure to find reputable clinic). Adding flax seeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, aloe, psyllium are excellent lubricants for your intestines. Consuming fresh fruit and vegetables is an excellent way to cleanse out your entire body naturally.

Ok, that’s enough serious talk about pooping, here’s something that will make you laugh and teach you something important at the same time.

The Poop Lineup

What does this mean? Well let me break it down for you here:

Poopie Policeman (far right) – He represents the proper bowel movement. He is light brown, well shaped and easy to pass. He will float without requiring multiple flushes. He shouldn’t stink but rather smell natural and almost earthy.

But let’s get down to the nastier bowel movements and what they may mean for you. We’ll start with the far left and move right through the line up.

Mr. Sinker ‘n’ Stinker – This guy will not go unnoticed as he can clear a bathroom faster than you can flush. He smells foul and wretched, he is dark in color and he is a sign that you should take steps to detoxify your body. He is a product of processed foods, toxins or medical drugs so as suggested above, reduce your intake of processed foods!

Olympic Swimmer – While the last one will sink to the bottom, this guy tends to float and requires several flushes to get him down. He is lighter in color than your optimal poop due to a high content of undigested fats. He may indicate a deficiency in bile, which helps to break down fats.

The Body Builder – This big guy is hard to pass due to his diameter. He is thick and “built” and may require some straining to let loose. This is probably caused by eating too many dehydrated and processed foods. Protein bars and shakes can be the culprits here so I suggest to you that REAL foods are always a better option.

Pellet Man – You’ll recognize this guy if you’ve ever been on the toilet and felt like you’d turned into a rabbit. If you are dehydrated and your body tries to move your stool through the colon by peristalsis (wave-like contractions that move food along your digestive tract) then it creates pellet like stool.

Diarrhella – This is the liquid guy. And believe it or not, this is your body’s desperate attempt at detoxifying itself. This guy shouldn’t be ignored if he hangs around and especially if you alternate between constipation and diarrhea. It’s time for a change to your diet!

The Flasher– This guy likes to show his true colors, meaning undigested food particles. This is not normal and can be a sign of food intolerances or an inflammatory disorder of the digestive system.

There you have it, Paul Chek’s Poopie Line Up. Now you know what to look for when you go to the bathroom. And please stop being embarrassed about talking to your doctor if you experience any unusual bowel movements.

Detecting something early can save your life. That is much more important than preserving your pride for a few minutes, don’t you think?

So don’t flush away everything you’ve learned here. Put it to good use!

P.S. Educate your kids from young about the importance of pooping several times a day and the direct link it has on their overall health  and energy.
